SEEDS and Sea Shepherd Iceland - coastal cleanup at Grótta
26.04.2021

Last Saturday SEEDS and Sea Shepherd Iceland organised a coastal cleanup at Grótta, near the lighthouse, a popular recreational area in Seltjarnarnes.
About 30 people (SEEDS volunteers, Sea Shepherds, locals and foreigners) enjoyed the mild spring weather while picking plastic from in between the rocks, pulling tangled old fishnets from among the wave breakers and gathering a total of 328 cigarette stubs from the parking lot. This helped making the place not only safer for the birds who will soon be nesting there, but also more enjoyable for the people who come here to appreciate the nature on a walk, run, ride or otherwise.
We collected 27.4 kg of trash without counting the glass, metal waste and the fishing nets. Thanks to everyone who joined! Great effort!
