SEEDS, with the support of the Youth in Action Programme of the European Commission, offers opportunities to young people(18-30) to be a volunteer in Iceland for a specific period of time (usually between 6 and 12 months).
The European Voluntary Service (EVS) is one of the actions of the Youth in action programme, a programme that promotes the mobility of young people through international activities with a non-formal education dimension such as youth exchanges, voluntary services, youth initiatives and training of youth workers.
The EVS allows a young person to be a volunteer in another country for a specified period, normally between 6 and 12 months. Voluntary service activities can take place, for example, in the field of the environment, arts and culture, activities with children, young people or the elderly, heritage, sports and leisure or civil protection.
EVS is one of the opportunities for young people to get actively involved in European project work. An EVS project gains from intercultural experience, it builds on a trans-national partnership between youth organisations and the volunteer.
