SEEDS 07. Patreksfjörður & Tálknafjörður
07.07.2007

A new group of SEEDS' volunteers has arrived to the district of Tálknafjarðarhreppur and the village of Tálknafjörður! This time we have a group of volunteers coming from Belgium, Czech Rep., Germany, Italy and Australia! Their project started today and they will support few projects in the area!

The village, sometimes referred to as Sveinseyri, lies near the head of the Tálknafjörður the fjord, it has around 300 inhabitants and the main sources of income are fishing and farming. Tálknafjörður differs from the other so-called Western Fjörds in the fact that there is geothermal activity in the fjord and the water is used for heating and in the swimming pool.

Tálknafjörður is located around 400 Km from the Icelandic capital Reykjavík and around 160 Km from Ísafjörður, the biggest town in the Western Fjords.
