This particular project will combine various tasks within Reykjavík city with different partners. This will ensure diverse daily tasks and a rich experience for SEEDS volunteers.

The main task of the project is to gather all the latest news and photographs from DesignMarch 2014 on a daily basis. You will work the evening to night shift so that all the latest information is ready for the international press early in the morning.

Reykjavík DesignMarch takes place on the weekend of March 27th - 30th. SEEDS volunteers will support the press and independent photographers covering all the artistic events related. As volunteers will have to communicate with the journalist, photographers, project managers, artists and guests it is required that they have good conversational skills in English. Driver's license is also mandatory because some of the tasks that SEEDS volunteers will by performing will include driving a car, such as driving to gather all the photographs taken over the day time.

You will also by twittering about the events and parties related to the festival. If you have a smart phone or a camera it would be nice to bring it along. You are the press support, so we need volunteers with good general computer skills, such as in uploading photographs and texts. We would also like volunteers who are interested in graphic design, journalism and arts.

ACCOMMODATION:  SEEDS volunteers will stay in an equipped house, in a beautiful setting inside the Botanical Gardens, which are located about 4 Kilometres from the centre of the city.

Volunteers will be sleeping in shared rooms in a sleeping bag accommodation. Please bring your own sleeping bag.  Please note that volunteers from other projects will also be staying in the house.

Volunteers will receive food supplies and be in charge of the cooking and cleaning. Do not forget some traditional food from your country for the international evening.

LOCATION: Reykjavík is the capital of Iceland, often called “the nightlife capital of the north”. But there is more to Reykjavík than pubs and clubs. Reykjavík also gathers the most interesting of Icelandic culture. It is an incubator of new ideas and styles which often indicates new global trends. It is an International city with a lively Cosmopolitan cultural scene.

Reykjavík is spread across a peninsula with a panoramic view of the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean on almost all sides. Reykjavík is a dynamic, modern city which lives in harmony with beautiful nature, using renewable energy sources - geothermal power and glacial rivers.

March is the last month when you can see, with a piece of good luck, the Northern lights (Aurora Borealis) in Iceland. In the area closer than 100 Km from Reykjavík, there are several spectacular waterfalls, geysers, impressive coastline and the well-known geothermal Blue Lagoon spa to visit.
