SEEDS 036. Outdoor Work on the South Shore
20.05.2018

Main task of this camp was to support a local farm in their endeavour to afforest the surroundings. Over the timespan of ten days the volunteers planted over 6000 trees on the slope of a hill behind the farm. The work was physical demanding but was rewarded during the work with a beautiful outlook on the Westman Islands and after work through delicious Icelandic dishes that the host prepared for us. The accommodation was exceptional since we were staying in beautiful guest rooms and could relax in the cosy living room warmed by an fire place. The host was sharing a lot of interesting insides concerning the volcanic eruptions that he witnessed during the last 40 years. Already in the previous years volunteers of SEEDS planted trees in the area, giving us an outlook what our trees might become in the upcoming years. During the free time we went on the Westman island Heimay where we climbed a volcano and searched for puffins.
